About The Position

The New England Center for Children (NECC) is looking for individuals who are passionate about helping our students lead more independent lives. Adult Services Counselors work in our residential adult services program and provide direct care support to our adult consumers. Counselors are trained to use ABA therapy to implement and enhance their clinical, educational, and vocational skills and will assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, cooking, cleaning, toileting, and shopping. They are also trained in medication administration (MAP), student van transportation, and verbal and physical de-escalation of challenging behaviors (CALM training), allowing our students to effectively communicate their needs, improve their problem-solving skills, and maintain their well-being.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or 1 year of relevant experience.
• Willingness to help students who engage in challenging behaviors.
• Ability to communicate and provide verbal instruction clearly with adult consumers.
• Valid Driver's License with reliable transportation.
• Completion of CPR training through NECC within 6 months of employment.
• Successful completion of NECC training in Physical and Verbal De-escalation (CALM) and Medication Administration (MAP Certification).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care support to adult consumers in a residential program.
• Implement and enhance clinical, educational, and vocational skills using ABA therapy.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, cooking, cleaning, toileting, and shopping.
• Administer medication and ensure compliance with MAP training.
• Transport students in a van as needed.
• Utilize verbal and physical de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviors.
