About The Position

Kern Community College District is accepting applications for part-time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. This allows the division to contact qualified applicants immediately if a need arises without having to wait for a period of time to advertise. The successful applicant will be expected to provide a full range of counseling/instructional services at the Indian Wells Valley site in Ridgecrest. This assignment may include counseling services at other campus sites or online for online students. Other duties include participation in student recruitment and articulation, maintaining subject matter currency, developing and revising curriculum, using computer and multimedia technology, and collegial participation in departmental, college, and discipline-specific professional activities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development, or the equivalent.
  • For EOPS counselors hired after October 24, 1987: completion of nine semester units of college coursework relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social, or economic disadvantages, or completion of six semester units of college-level counseling practicum or counseling field-work courses.
  • Two years of occupational experience in work relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social, or economic disadvantages.
  • For DSPS: Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling or related fields, and 15 or more semester units in upper division or graduate level coursework specifically related to people with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Benefits

  • Hourly rate of $67.00, which may vary based on type of assignment and Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula.
