About The Position
The Director of Counseling Services, alongside the Director of Health Services, provides vision and strategy for University Health and Counseling Department (UHCS), provides content expertise to the division and institution keeping student need and institutional mission at the forefront, coordinates administrative functions such as personnel and program management, develops departmental goals/objectives and budget. The UHCS philosophy focuses on both prevention and intervention, and as a result, offers a wide array of direct care, educational outreach, wellness and holistic programs and services. Outreach and services are enhanced through participation in a nationally APA accredited doctoral internship, predoctoral practicum placements and master's internships. All services and programs are in accordance with AAAHC standards. The Director of Counseling Services provides leadership and supervision for a team of clinical providers and support staff; serves on campus committees; participates with Division of Student Affairs Leadership Team, member of the Wellbeing unit; and promotes student success through delivery and promotion of quality healthcare, counseling and education. This is a full-time, annual appointment; the Director of Counseling Services reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Dean of Students working closely with the Director of Health Services and the wellbeing unit. The Counseling and Health directors provide mutual backup, ensuring continuous leadership and operational support for the department in each other's absence.
