About The Position

The Counseling Assistant at Georgetown University provides essential counseling services to students and their families regarding financial aid processes and programs. Requirements

• A bachelor's degree and part-time or full-time work experience with counseling, customer service, and/or administrative support.
• Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze data and use independent judgment where appropriate.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to continuous quality improvement and customer service.
• Experience with and knowledge of PC-based administrative software.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Ellucian's Banner, COGNOS, and/or Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and/or institutional financial aid program rules, regulations, or processes.

Responsibilities

• Deliver counseling services to current and prospective students regarding financial aid processes and procedures.
• Conduct preliminary review and processing of financial aid applications.
• Maintain all financial aid records and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Provide counseling and application processing services to approximately 14,500 potential and current undergraduate and graduate applicants for aid each year.
• Manage approximately 1,250 financial aid applicants annually, overseeing application processing, financial counseling, and monitoring enrollment status.
• Communicate effectively with students to ensure high standards of customer service.
