Who we’re looking for: We’re looking for an in-house attorney for our Merchant Solutions business. This position is a business and transactional lawyer who will support Fiserv’s dynamic merchant-facing products and businesses, such as Clover, our flagship payment and business solutions platform for small and medium-sized businesses, merchant acquiring, and our hardware business

Requirements

  • JD from accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice, or ability to become licensed to practice as in-house counsel, and in good standing with no disciplinary record, in the applicable state
  • 1+ years of experience practicing law, preferably negotiating, drafting, and redlining contracts
  • You must currently possess valid and unrestricted U.S. work authorization to be considered for this role. Individuals with temporary visas including, but not limited to, F-1 (OPT, CPT, STEM), H-1B, H-2, or TN, or any candidate requiring sponsorship, now or in the future, will not be considered for this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Credit cards, payments, or banking industry experience.
  • Experience interacting with senior business leaders, either as inhouse, or outside counsel.
  • Exposure to financial services, technology contracts and data privacy issues.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, negotiate, and manage commercial contracts with merchants, partners, resellers, and vendors, including SaaS, services, hardware, and integration agreements.
  • Counsel sales, product, and engineering teams on contractual risk, go-to-market terms, and deal structuring for merchant-facing products.
  • Advise on regulatory, compliance, and payment network requirements and coordinate responses to legal and regulatory inquiries.
  • Collaborate with IP, privacy, security, finance, tax, and compliance specialists to resolve cross-functional legal matters.
  • Manage outside counsel engagements, oversee matter budgets, and drive efficient legal processes for routine and complex transactions.
  • Provide strategic legal input on product features, pricing models, and partner integrations to support business objectives.
