This role is for a high-caliber Legal & Compliance team, focusing on building and scaling a global AI enterprise program at a leading asset manager. It is a strategic position centered on designing and operationalizing AI policies and governance frameworks to enable responsible innovation across investment, client-facing, HR, and operational AI use cases within a highly regulated asset manager. The work is global, requiring seamless coordination with stakeholders in Europe, Canada, and Asia. The successful candidate will help create policies, guardrails, tools, and scalable systems to empower teams to experiment, deploy, and manage AI responsibly at an enterprise scale.

Requirements

  • JD + active CA or NY Bar (or eligible for CA or NY Registered In House Counsel registration)
  • 3–4 years’ experience in law focusing on technology transactions, data/privacy, or financial services regulatory counseling
  • Demonstrated success designing or operationalizing AI governance frameworks with practical integration of regulatory requirements, information security and global risk
  • Strong transactional foundation with experience negotiating IT vendor, SAAS and AI provider contracts and developing AI/cloud/data templates and playbooks, such as for AI enable contract markup and intelligence systems
  • Proven ability to coordinate complex, multijurisdictional projects (U.S. hub with EU/Asia input)
  • Demonstrated experimentation with AI tools in legal practice
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with credibility across senior investment, HR, client, and/or operations stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • 3-4 years' experience with a top tier law firm and/or a leading AI - focused financial services inhouse legal team
  • Experience with generative AI in investment, client facing, or HR applications
  • Familiarity with legal tech or contract AI platforms, and prior work building or experimenting with AI agents for Legal & Compliance use cases
  • Regional familiarity with Europe and Asia regulatory considerations and/or additional language fluency

Responsibilities

  • Design, iterate, and operationalize global AI policies, governance frameworks, experimentation protocols, risk assessments, and playbooks spanning investment research/management, client facing tools, HR/talent processes, and operational automation
  • Ensure multijurisdictional alignment (EU AI Act high-risk considerations, GDPR, emerging U.S. and Asia frameworks) with smooth cross time zone coordination
  • Leverage experience with negotiating third party data vendor, SAAS and AI provider contracts to build scalable AI/cloud/data vendor templates and negotiation playbooks that integrate Information Security and Global Risk requirements, and the candidate will enhance these via legal tech and AI enabled workflows and managed service providers
  • Partner with investment teams, client groups, HR, compliance, information security, data office, procurement, and global risk to embed pragmatic guardrails into high-impact AI initiatives
  • Provide clear, commercially oriented guidance, training, and governance committee support to accelerate responsible innovation and risk-aware decisions
  • Track regulatory and technology developments across the U.S., Canada, EU, and Asia and translate insights into actionable framework updates
  • Support governance decisions around complex AI applications (e.g., model supported research workflows, generative AI client tools, automated HR analytics)
