About The Position

Join our Principal Asset Management team as Counsel to provide expert legal guidance in structuring, financing, regulatory, and transactional matters that support Principal Asset Management's Private Assets on our growing global platform. Provide strategic legal advice and support for new product development, structuring, and private investment and fund offerings, with a focus on private credit and direct lending investments. Provide support for investment advisory services and related agreements, all in collaboration with colleagues globally. Provide accurate, timely, and sound legal advice and recommendations to business unit clients and to executives regarding matters of complexity which have or may have significant risk to business activities and operations. This may include: conducting legal research, consulting with outside counsel, drafting legal documents, and providing work guidance to paralegal and support staff. Requirements

  • 5+ years of legal experience; 8+ years preferred.
  • Expertise with private fund and private asset product development work.
  • Requires a law degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admittance to the bar in at least one state.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in support of private credit and direct lending capabilities.
  • Experience in US and international regulations regarding investment advisers and investment funds.
  • Experience with the Investment Advisers Act and Investment Company Act.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting while excelling independently.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong judgment and professionalism in applying legal knowledge to business scenarios.
  • Informal leadership experience.
