The UHS Corporate Legal Department is hiring a Counsel - Litigation to support general litigation, including affirmative litigation, and government investigation matters for the UHS Legal Department.

Requirements

• Law degree with 3 - 5 years' experience in commercial litigation
• Must be admitted into the state bar or have in-house counsel license

• Experience with the healthcare industry or with medical providers preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, trial preparation, and settlement discussions
• Lead the company’s response to federal, state, and local government investigations, ensuring timely and thorough compliance with inquiries, subpoenas, and regulatory enforcement actions
• Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on litigation risk, dispute resolution, and the impact of government investigations on business operations
• Partner with internal teams such as compliance, operations, and risk management to develop litigation strategies that align with business objectives
• Manage relationships with outside counsel, ensuring efficient and cost-effective handling of legal matters
• Participate in alternative dispute resolution efforts, including mediation and arbitration, to minimize litigation where possible
• Manage all consumer protection litigation on behalf of the company ranging from patient billing, liens on patient accounts and pending class actions matters in this space
