About The Position

We are looking for a Counsel, Labor Relations who will report to the Vice President, Labor Relations and support several FOX Corporation companies/brands, including FOX Entertainment, FOX Sports, FOX Studio Lot, and new media productions throughout the United States and abroad. This is a full-time, exempt hybrid position.

Requirements

  • Excellent academic credentials, a JD degree, and current State Bar membership
  • 2-5 years of relevant litigation, labor relations, and/or business/legal affairs experience
  • Experience negotiating contract terms, preferably terms of collective bargaining agreements
  • Strong analytical abilities and a strategic thought process with excellent communication and collaborative skills
  • Ability to analyze financial data and contract terms
  • Ability to work variable hours and travel as needed
  • Excellent judgment and the ability to work independently

  • Experience working in the entertainment and/or broadcast industry, including with entertainment industry unions and guilds

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal and other counsel on various labor relations issues, including collective bargaining, grievance handling, arbitrations, unfair labor practice charges, and union campaigns
  • Represent FOX clients in negotiation of both single and multi-employer collective bargaining agreements on behalf of the FOX Corp. companies, including developing negotiation strategies and preparing proposals for negotiations
  • Advise leadership on legal proceedings such as NLRB matters
  • Investigate and address union grievances
  • Analyze collective bargaining agreements (e.g., to ensure compliance with negotiated contract terms) and advise leadership accordingly in several internal departments, including production, finance, distribution, publicity/marketing, creative, and Business & Legal Affairs
  • Collect and analyze information regarding company practices and the financial impact of collective bargaining agreement terms for use in contract negotiations and other business purposes
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with various industry labor organizations
  • Collaborate with other departments (including employment legal and employee relations) as needed on labor issues
  • Conduct legal research relating to labor relations issues as needed
