About The Position

The Counsel, GM Energy position will be a key legal and strategic partner to GM’s rapidly growing GM Energy business, supporting a portfolio of home, commercial, and fleet energy products and services, including EV charging, stationary storage, energy management software, and grid services. The role will require an ability to enable business objectives through innovative legal advice for complex matters relating to a variety of operational growth, retail, transactional, and risk management matters. Job Summary: You will provide expert-level legal advice with a primary focus on complex commercial transactions, new business models, and operational growth initiatives, and you will work directly with senior business leaders to shape strategy and execution for this dynamic and high-visibility organization. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast‑moving, growth‑stage or start‑up‑like environment within a large enterprise—comfortable building structure where needed, operating with ambiguity, and scaling legal frameworks alongside a rapidly evolving business.
