About The Position

The Counsel at Georgetown Law Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection will lead complex litigation efforts aimed at defending constitutional rights and values. This role involves integrating Georgetown Law students into litigation processes, conducting legal research, drafting court materials, and developing policy solutions. The Counsel will work closely with the Institute's Directors and other attorneys to strategize and implement impactful litigation and policy initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and J.D.
• At least 2 years of related experience, including clerkship time if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Drive results in complex, fast-moving litigation in defense of key constitutional rights and values.
• Conceptualize and effectuate high-impact litigation and related policy work, integrating Georgetown Law students into litigation efforts.
• Engage in factual development and legal research to assist in crafting constitutional impact litigation strategies.
• Draft, revise, and edit briefing materials for court filings.
• Assist in mooting advocates presenting and arguing cases, with opportunities to present and argue cases at trial and appellate levels.
• Assume lead roles in individual cases under supervision of ICAP's Directors.
• Support Directors in overseeing a practicum seminar for Georgetown Law students on constitutional impact litigation.
• Implement litigation strategies in complex cases involving multiple plaintiffs and defendants, class actions, and various legal claims.
• Research and develop policy solutions where appropriate.
