About The Position

Under administrative direction, uses extensive knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to provide legal advice and counsel on matters that involve labor and employment law related issues in the Employment Law Group to support partners across the organization (the “assigned functional area(s)”). The focus includes conducting employment law related investigations, preparing the investigation summary and working to implement any related outcomes. Participates in and may lead large or multiple projects with significant scope and impact. Works independently on difficult assignments that are broad in nature requiring originality and ingenuity with appreciable latitude for unreviewed actions or decisions. Provides comprehensive solutions to complex problems. Results are evaluated at agreed upon milestones for effectives in achieving specified results. Extensive contact with internal customers, management and regulatory agencies is required to identify, research, analyze and resolve moderately complex legal issues.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of: Principles of banking and finance and securities industry operations.
  • Skill in: Performing legal review.
  • Providing legal representation.
  • Reviewing for potential employment law issues
  • Performing legal research.
  • Preparing and delivering written and oral presentations.
  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications.
  • Ability to: Maintain currency in legal issues related to assigned functional area(s).
  • Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives.
  • Progressively learn about assigned functional area(s) and other business areas.
  • Facilitate meetings, ensuring that all viewpoints, ideas and problems are addressed.
  • Gather information, identify linkages and trends and apply findings to assignments.
  • Interpret and apply policies and identify and recommend changes as appropriate.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamically changing environment
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Handle stressful situations, a heavy, diverse case load and provide a high level of customer service in a calm and professional manner.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Juris Doctorate with excellent academic credentials and a minimum of three (3) year of progressively responsible experience in relevant practice area(s) (law firm and/or in-house in a related area involving financial services industry preferred).
  • OR ~ Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
  • Member in good standing in at least one state bar; and
  • Ability to obtain Florida Authorized House Counsel, if not a member of the Florida bar.
