LA28 is the independent, non-profit, privately funded organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The 2028 Games mark the return of the Summer Games to the U.S. for the first time in 32 years and Los Angeles’ third time hosting an Olympic Games and first time welcoming the Paralympic Games. Counsel, Ceremonies & Content: The Counsel, Ceremonies and Content, will provide day-to-day business and legal affairs support for LA28’s diverse offerings of non-competition events and related marketing efforts of the organization (e.g., Torch Relays, Cultural Olympiad, Live Sites, and fan experiences). Working alongside the rest of the legal team, and others within LA28 and its related production company(ies), this position will be responsible for the review, drafting and finalization of a diverse array of legal agreements to signature (e.g. small venue and location agreements, vendor agreements, equipment/wardrobe rentals, local and government cooperation agreements, marketing agreements, work for hire agreements, releases/waivers, etc.) necessary to implement LA28’s live events, create fan experiences and produce Olympic and Paralympic content. In addition, this role will be responsible for the refinement of legal forms, helping with day-to-day production legal demands (e.g. all levels of production agreements, clearance, music rights, etc.) and satisfaction of all required deliverables. This position will coordinate with other LA28 attorneys, business executives, and external stakeholders (e.g., IOC, IPC, broadcasters, sponsors, venues, government entities, outside counsel, etc.). Opportunities to bolster the business and legal affairs matters for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies may also arise. Requirements

Minimum 3+ years’ legal experience in transactional entertainment contract matters required.
Understanding of, and experience with, production legal affairs, intellectual property, corporate law, business contracting, and transactional principles.
Specialty experience in one or more of the following focus areas is required: production legal, music licensing, live media/sports events and/or marketing legal.
Prior law firm and/or in-house entertainment experience.
Undergraduate degree from an accredited university.
Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA accredited law school.
License to practice law, be in good standing with the California State Bar and have the ability to practice law in California.
Consistently able to adapt approach and demeanor in real time to match the changing demands of different situations and executives.
Positive and team-oriented, with a respectful and collaborative attitude.
High level of personal integrity, professional ethics and reliability; must maintain strict confidentiality.
Impeccable legal drafting skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Support and collaborate with members of the legal department on identified business transactions and legal matters.
Steady stream of self-directed analytical work, drafting, meetings, and complex decision-making
Provide time-sensitive business and legal advice to the creative and production teams.
Negotiate terms, paper and review all varieties of legal documents including, but not limited to, talent agreements, production services agreements, leases, venue agreements, intellectual property licenses, confidentiality agreements, waivers, consents, legal memoranda and/or other correspondence.
Establish and help enforce production-related policies, processes, standard operating procedures and legal forms.
Assist with the management of communications and relationships with LA28’s business and strategic partners.
Supervise, monitor and assist in the career development of any junior attorneys and/or paralegals.
Review, understand and ensure alignment with all relevant corporate/stakeholder documents (including Host City Contract and Operational Requirements, Olympic Charter, Code of Ethics, etc.).
Work with outside counsel on matters requiring specialty support.
Ensure compliance with applicable international, federal, state and local laws and regulations.
Keep current on industry-wide legal trends and developments.
