About The Position

Macomb Post Acute Care Center is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide hands-on, resident-centered occupational therapy at a leading skilled nursing facility. This role involves carrying out personalized treatment plans under the supervision of licensed Occupational Therapists, guiding residents in rebuilding skills for self-care, dressing, grooming, eating, and other activities of daily living (ADLs). The COTA will lead practical, engaging sessions using adaptive equipment, fine motor exercises, cognitive strategies, and compensatory techniques to enhance function, safety, and confidence. The position offers a collaborative therapy team environment where insights contribute to care approaches and team decisions, continuous training, mentorship, and growth resources in geriatric and long-term care occupational therapy, and the reward of supporting older adults in regaining independence and quality of life with a consistent full-time schedule in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out personalized treatment plans under the supervision of licensed Occupational Therapists
  • Guide residents in rebuilding skills for self-care, dressing, grooming, eating, and other activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Lead practical, engaging sessions using adaptive equipment, fine motor exercises, cognitive strategies, and compensatory techniques to enhance function, safety, and confidence
  • Track and document resident progress
  • Report observations to the supervising OT
  • Educate residents and families on techniques and tools for home success
  • Adapt activities to meet individual needs
  • Foster positive, empowering relationships
  • Work within a collaborative therapy team
