About The Position

We are seeking a commercially minded Costing System Lead to own and evolve the costing frameworks that underpin pricing, margin analysis and cost-to-serve insights across our operations. This role sits at the intersection of finance, operations and commercial decision-making. You will combine rigorous cost analysis, scenario modelling and stakeholder partnering to drive profitability, optimise cost structures and strengthen financial controls across product, customer and branch levels. You’ll play a key role in challenging assumptions with data, translating complex analysis into clear insights, and influencing decisions at a senior level.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Engineering or a related discipline (CPA or CA preferred)
• 3+ years’ experience in cost accounting, ideally within logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain or complex operational environments
• Strong understanding of activity-based costing, variance analysis, pricing analytics, scenario modelling and forecasting
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with Power BI or similar analytics tools
• Experience working with ERP systems (e.g. MS Dynamics, SAP, Oracle) and TMS platforms (e.g. Tollworks or similar)
• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving capability and analytical curiosity
• Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders using data
• The confidence to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and enhance cost models across operational activities including (but not limited to) stevedoring, depot operations, linehaul/road transport and warehousing
• Monitor standard cost models against actual results and ensure cost-to-serve assumptions remain relevant and accurate
• Establish frameworks to regularly test estimated costs against actuals and identify variances
• Provide cost and productivity insights to operations on a customer-by-customer and branch-by-branch basis
• Run scenario and sensitivity modelling (e.g. volume changes, footprint shifts, supplier changes) to support commercial decisions
• Analyse key cost drivers and variances (price, volume, mix, efficiency and overhead absorption) to identify margin risks and opportunities
• Conduct root cause analysis of cost variances and recommend corrective actions
• Partner with operations and procurement to optimise supplier rates and service costs
• Support budgeting, forecasting, month-end and year-end processes, including accruals and cost allocations
• Ensure costing methodologies are documented, consistent and aligned with accounting standards and internal policies
• Maintain accurate costing master data within the TMS (currently Tollworks) and relevant ERP systems
• Support internal and external audits related to cost accounting and margin reporting
• Present clear, data-driven insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders, challenging the status quo where required
