Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for use with both internal and external contacts

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and other related software
  • A bachelor’s degree in business related field is required.

  • Manufacturing cost accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Cost Control: Review cost estimations, engineering changes, and feasibility study requests before presenting to executive management for approval. Lead on all new project quotations.
  • Accuracy: Review estimations periodically to ensure actual cycle times, supplied parts and raw material entries are known and report any major discrepancies to management.
  • Obeya/profit improvement meetings: Assist or lead, as necessary, any cost improvement obeya meetings. Focus is reducing cost.
  • Budget/Forecast: Assist SM Cost in preparing the annual budget and monthly forecasts. Help calculate volumes, sales, material, and labor. Collaborate with managers to update labor sheet and expense sheets. Review and analyze other departments’ cost improvement initiatives to ensure annual targets are achieved.
  • Long-Term Profit Plan: Assist in the accumulation of the long-term profit plan to display the profitability trend and identify key areas of improvement.
  • Recovery: Communicate with sales department for tooling and piece price recovery. Provide sales department with necessary information to successfully recover expenses associated with customer ECI or material price increases. Assist in tracking recovery and help prepare monthly presentation material for Financial Results meeting.
  • Inventory Control: Conduct random audits of the manufacturing floor, receiving area and finished goods area to identify lost cost associated with inaccurate bills of material, incorrect scrap/production reporting, etc. and take corrective action with assistance of other sections. Assist in the coordination and performance of the semi-annual physical inventory.
  • Reports: Run all necessary reports and provide to appropriate groups. Review & update as needed.
  • Accept job assignments as necessary outside of normal job focus to balance section workload and develop additional knowledge and competitiveness.
