About The Position

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Cost Estimator to support new and existing business by developing accurate, competitive cost estimates throughout the product development lifecycle. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to turn customer data—such as blueprints, CAD files, and specifications—into clear, well-supported quotes that drive smart business decisions. If you enjoy working with technical data, collaborating across teams, and playing a key role in winning and sustaining business, this could be a great fit.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • 3+ years of related industry experience (machining or die casting preferred)
  • Experience developing cost estimates or piece-price costing
  • Strong blueprint reading skills with a solid understanding of GD&T
  • Proficiency with CAD systems (Siemens NX preferred)
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
  • Comfortable learning new technologies and collaboration tools (e.g., Teams)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or two-year technical degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage Requests for Quote (RFQs), including reviewing customer specifications and requirements
  • Solicit and evaluate supplier quotes for components, machining, coatings, impregnation, and outside services
  • Compile data from internal manufacturing processes and sub-suppliers to generate customer quotes
  • Maintain and track RFQs in Salesforce, ensuring accuracy and timely progress
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to review and approve estimates prior to submission
  • Prepare RFQ summaries, customer cost breakdowns, and online quote submissions
  • Develop cost variance and gap analyses to support pricing decisions
  • Create conceptual estimates for new product development opportunities
  • Maintain master cost files and approval logs for awarded programs
  • Verify purchase order pricing at award and support contract changes
  • Prepare internal cost breakdowns and CMS documentation for accounting and reporting
  • Generate monthly and quarterly cost reports and support customer audits
  • Provide quoted labor hours and capacity information to plant and layout teams
