About The Position

As a Cost Engineer within the Central Engineering group, you will support project teams by driving consistency, accuracy, and visibility in cost management across projects. This role focuses on standardizing processes, improving reporting, and providing reliable cost and forecasting insights to support decision-making. You perform critical project setup functions and collaborate with project teams while also working across multiple projects to ensure alignment with company best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in cost engineering, project controls, or construction accounting.
  • Strong understanding of construction cost management principles and project workflows.
  • Experience with cost management or project systems (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud, Viewpoint, Procore, or similar).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work across multiple teams and projects in a structured, process-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting centralized or multi-project environments.
  • Background in heavy civil, industrial, or infrastructure construction.
  • Familiarity with earned value management (EVM) principles.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project budget setup and cost structure development, including alignment with estimate data and company standards.
  • Monitor and analyze project costs, commitments, and expenditures across multiple projects.
  • Develop and maintain standardized cost reports, forecasts, and dashboards.
  • Support project teams with budget setup, cost tracking, and forecasting processes when needed.
  • Review subcontract, purchase order, and change order data for accuracy and consistency.
  • Analyze variances between actual and budgeted costs and provide actionable insights.
  • Assist with owner-required reporting and project-specific tracking requirements.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining company-wide cost control procedures and tools.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and data reliability.
  • Travel to project sites as needed to support project teams and implementation of processes.
  • Perform additional assignments as required to support Central Engineering and Operations.
