About The Position

The Cost Engineer develops cost estimates and product structures for new and existing products and maintains item master and related BOM/PDM documentation. Works cross‑functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Sales and Suppliers to support part and tooling design, assess RFQs (request for quotes) for feasibility, provide cost data for customer quotations within SLA targets, and release products into production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline required, mechanical engineering preferred.
  • 2-4 years experience in a manufacturing or engineering design environment required.
  • Experience with BOM/PDM systems and maintaining item masters.
  • Knowledge of mechanical/electrical manufacturing processes (molding, forming, joining, machining, complex assembly).
  • Practical understanding of tooling requirements and tool construction for production.
  • Experience with 2D/3D CAD environments; strong computer skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet tight timelines.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or hold U.S. Permanent Resident status.
  • Willingness to work in a fast‑paced, production‑oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with GD&T, tolerance stack‑up, SPC, DOE, and Six Sigma techniques preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop timely, accurate cost estimates and technical data for new and existing products.
  • Create and maintain product structures, item masters, and PDM Bills of Material; ensure traceability from prototype to production.
  • Evaluate customer RFQs for manufacturing feasibility and quality implications; provide cost inputs for quotations (meet Quote P75 SLA).
  • Define manufacturing methods and collaborate on tooling specification/design (dies, fixtures, jigs, inspection tooling).
  • Ensure Engineering Change Order (ECO) and Management of Change (MOC) processes are followed before updating BOMs and item masters.
  • Support production release activities and manage New Part Orders to meet ship dates.
  • Review material, equipment, tooling, and labor usage to achieve target cost/price.
  • Act as technical liaison with customers and suppliers; provide guidance on design concepts to best utilize division capabilities.
  • Assist in preparing production drawings and documentation to industry standards (ANSI, CES).
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects; coordinate with Planners, Process, Quality, Tool Shop, and Manufacturing.
  • Provide advice on technical and cost issues and contribute to cross‑functional project teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
