Turner & Townsend are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cost Consultant to join our data center team. This role involves managing and analyzing costs for data center construction projects, ensuring financial efficiency and accuracy throughout the project lifecycle

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in cost engineering, including data center or related mission‑critical project experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills; proficiency in cost estimation software; excellent communication and presentation abilities; and a solid understanding of financial forecasting and cost accounting principles.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to thrive in a client-facing role.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain detailed project budgets, including labor, materials, equipment, and services.
  • Provide ongoing cost management support throughout the project lifecycle, including tracking commitments, monitoring actuals, and maintaining accurate cost logs.
  • Perform comprehensive cost analysis and forecasting to ensure projects stay within budget, escalating deviations and recommending corrective actions where needed.
  • Support monthly cost reviews by preparing variance analyses, updating cash flow projections, and validating accruals.
  • Identify potential financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and present detailed cost reports and progress updates to project managers and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of key cost drivers and budget impacts.
  • Collaborate with project teams, procurement, and contract management to ensure cost control and planning advice.
  • Assist with purchase order reviews, invoice validation, and change order evaluation to ensure financial accuracy and alignment with budget.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements in project design and execution.
  • Engage and manage third-party quantity surveyors and validate construction cost estimates.
  • Update and maintain a repository for historical cost data to inform future projects.
  • Define and track cost performance metrics, leading monthly cost reporting and analysis.
  • Support the development and improvement of cost management tools, templates, and reporting standards.
