About The Position

Balchem is looking for a Cost Accounting Supervisor. This role will report directly to the Sr. Supply Chain Finance Manager and will have three direct reports. Responsibilities will include leading close activities for manufacturing sites, cost containment actions and driving accountability to targeted commitments. The individual should have an eye towards continuous improvement, leveraging technology and other solutions to automate and scale our processes to enable strategic decisions. The individual must possess excellent critical thinking skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and possess an attention to detail, while comprehending the bigger picture.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or finance
  • 5-7 years of directly related Finance experience within a manufacturing/supply chain organization
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Experience with standard costing methodologies preferred
  • Strong Excel Skills, Microsoft office suite, Power BI a plus
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Aptitude to succeed in a competitive and deadline-oriented environment
  • Solid understanding of Information Systems/ERP Systems

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic financial analysis on Supply Chain impact to the P&L, Balance Sheet, and key performance indicators
  • Oversee monthly close activities, including SOX compliance, variance analyses (plant spend, purchase price, production), and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare, post, and review journal entries; maintain accurate documentation in financial system
  • Support monthly forecasting, with a focus on variance analysis for plant operations
  • Contribute to annual budgeting, operational planning, and cost estimation for new products, including overhead structure analysis
  • Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Accounting, and Finance teams to support data-driven decision-making
  • Supply internal and external audit teams with information and analysis for annual audits and quarterly reviews as required
  • Support year-end physical inventories; prepare roll-forwards, as required
  • Manage, mentor and develop team members to support performance
  • Ad hoc projects as requested by management
