Our biotechnology group is seeking a highly motivated teammate for our Accounting Manager role who will support all of our 7 locations across the United States and Canada. As a multi-facility Cost Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing standard costs to ensure accurate inventory valuation and financial reporting. This role partners across Finance and Operations, to ensure transactions flow correctly through the ERP system, variances are analyzed, and the General Ledger remains accurate and compliant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • 4–7 years of progressive cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JDE, NetSuite, or similar).
  • Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Familiarity with government regulations and compliance requirements..
  • Strong management principles and advanced decision-making skills.
  • Advanced skills in accounting and financial reporting software.
  • Financial data analysis and interpretation
  • Root cause identification for variances
  • Scenario analysis for cost impacts
  • Advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, Power Query, macros)
  • Cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis
  • Process improvement and efficiency analysis

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Lead the annual standard cost roll and support updates throughout the year.
  • Review and validate BOMs, routings, and cost drivers within the ERP.
  • Monitor transaction flows across purchasing, production, and inventory.
  • Collaborate with IT and Operations teams to resolve system-related issues impacting costs.
  • Ensure inventory is valued accurately under US GAAP.
  • Reconcile subledger and GL balances for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Support cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
  • Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances, identifying root causes.
  • Provide timely reporting and actionable insights to leadership.
  • Cost modeling and margin analysis
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations.
  • Perform month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare accurate monthly financial statements in compliance with GAAP
  • Assist with audit and tax requests and ensure compliance with internal controls.
  • State, and local tax filings and payments, including sales tax, ensuring full compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Accounting function.
