About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our finance team at Florida Caribbean Distillers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate accounting and financial analysis, with a deep understanding of GAAP and financial concepts. This role is essential for providing accurate cost information that supports budgeting, forecasting, and overall financial strategy. The Cost Accountant will play a key role in interpreting financial reports and conducting account analysis to ensure the integrity of financial data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in corporate accounting or cost accounting roles.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis techniques and tools.
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ERP systems (1 year preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Planning, studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor.
  • Analyzing data collected and recording results.
  • Analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost.
  • Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Recording cost information for use in controlling expenditures.
  • Uploading Inventory Variances.
  • Analyzing audits of costs and preparing reports.
  • Assigning SPC codes to new products.
  • Interacting with Production Control to ensure Bills of Materials (BOM) are accurate and up to date.
  • Reviewing and auditing BOM's to ensure they reflect the latest manufacturing practices.
  • Running annual standard cost setting process that includes reviewing Purchased Material & Conversion Costs (Labor & Overhead) and completing revaluation process at the beginning of the year with the revaluation journal entries.
  • Making estimates of new and proposed product costs.
  • Maintaining Cost Accounting System.
  • Assisting in Month end close of the General Ledger.
  • Conducting physical inventories and monitoring cycle count program.
  • Registering the Production, Cost of Goods sold and Contract Manufacturing Journal entries.
  • Reconciling inventories.
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts.
  • Working with the finance department to implement and apply cost accounting policies and procedures as they are derived.
  • Performing ad hoc product/plant cost analysis to support the operations.
  • Supporting compliance activities associated with Food Safety Systems, Good Manufacturing Practices, Gluten-Free, Organic and Standard Operating Procedures.
