About The Position

Cost Accountant responsible formanaging and analyzing all cost accounting activities within a chemical manufacturing environment. This role supports operational and financial decision-making throughaccurateproduct costing, inventory valuation, variance analysis, and margin reporting. The position partners closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Finance to improve cost visibility, process efficiency, and profitability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, ora relatedfield.
  • Minimum of5–7 years of cost accounting experiencein a manufacturing environment;chemical or process manufacturing experiencestronglypreferred.
  • Strong knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, variance analysis, and manufacturing financial controls.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP
  • Advancedproficiencyin Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively partner with operations and non-finance stakeholders in a plant environment.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
  • Experience with batch manufacturing, yield loss analysis, or co-product/by-product costing.
  • Familiarity with environmental, safety, and regulatory considerationsimpactingmanufacturing costs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage standard cost systems for raw materials, intermediates, finished goods, and by-products.
  • Analyze and explain manufacturing variances, including material usage, labor, overhead, yield, waste, and production efficiency.
  • Perform monthly inventory valuation and reconciliation for raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations related to manufacturing costs.
  • Partner with Operations and Production to understand batch processes, yields, routings, and key cost drivers.
  • Prepare and present cost reports, margin analysis, and performance metrics for plant leadership and corporate finance.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning related to manufacturing and operational costs.
  • Monitor capital expenditures and depreciation associated with plant equipment and manufacturing assets.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company accounting policies, and SOX requirements (if applicable).
  • Support internal and external audits by providing cost data, documentation, and explanations.
  • Identifyopportunities for cost reduction, operationalefficiencies, andsystem or processimprovements.
  • SupportERP cost modules, including bills of material (BOMs), routings, overhead rates, and inventory controls.
