Job Description Cost Accountant: The essential functions and key responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to: Develops, implements and/or maintains one or a combination of cost accounting systems. Prepares journal entries; maintains and reconciles ledger accounts. Collects data, allocates costs and prepares reports on labor, equipment, depreciation, assembly or other operating expenses, ensuring that established procedures are followed. Prepares financial statements and variance reports as requested. May do analysis and prepare special reports. May interpret reports and records for managers. Utilizing the Company’s ERP system (EPICOR) and work closely with the Planners, Buyers, Production Team and and Shipping in order to effectively balance job costs and materials. Work with Production groups to monitor and close production jobs timely and verify all parts and labor have been reported properly. Maintain constant communication with production to ensure data is entered in a timely manner into the ERP software. Analyze actual manufacturing costs, material, labor, etc., comparing estimated costs to actual production costs, develop reporting and analytics, working closely with the Operations team Perform cost analysis, cost of goods sold and costs of production to identify variances highlighting areas of focus for profitability improvement. Evaluate new or special products and impact on production costs and production forecasts. Maintain internal control and compliance requirements related to manufacturing accounting activities. In addition, as required: Assist the Controller with the day to day, monthly and year-end operations of the Accounting/ Finance Department. Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information. Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts. Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes. Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data. Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
