Life Science Outsourcing, Inc. (“LSO”) (www.lso-inc.com) is a contract manufacturing organization focused on assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution with over 25 years of experience. The Company serves orthopedic, cardiovascular, diagnostic, dental, and a variety of other medical specialties. Clients rely on LSO to perform all activities required to bring products to market—from procurement to final packaging and shipping. LSO is headquartered in Brea, CA (North Orange County), with an additional East Coast facility in Somersworth, New Hampshire. We are seeking a Cost Accountant who will play a critical role in driving financial visibility and operational performance across our manufacturing operations. This position partners closely with the Controller, CFO, and cross-functional teams to deliver actionable insights that optimize cost structure, improve margins, and support strategic growth initiatives. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA or CMA required
  • 7 to 12 plus years of progressive accounting experience
  • Manufacturing experience required with medical device or regulated industry preferred
  • Multi site and or private equity backed experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting
  • Deep expertise in cost accounting within manufacturing
  • ERP system experience required
  • Advanced Excel skills with BI tools such as Power BI a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
  • High attention to detail with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strategic thinker with a hands on approach
  • Interest in leveraging AI and automation
  • Strong communication and business partnering skills
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to walk distances and navigate stairs as needed
  • Ability to travel periodically between New Hampshire and California

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain standard costs across labor, materials, and overhead
  • Analyze manufacturing variances and provide actionable insights to leadership
  • Support month-end close activities, including inventory and COGS reporting
  • Prepare margin analysis by product line, customer, and program
  • Reconcile inventory accounts (WIP, finished goods, scrap)
  • Partner with Operations to ensure accurate BOMs and routings
  • Support physical inventory and cycle counts
  • Analyze inventory trends, including excess and obsolescence
  • Ensure compliance with inventory controls in an FDA/ISO-regulated environment
  • Support quoting and pricing strategies with detailed cost analysis
  • Identify cost drivers and recommend process improvements
  • Partner with Sales and Program Management on new product introductions (NPI)
  • Drive improvements in cost accounting processes and internal controls
  • Support ERP enhancements related to costing and inventory
  • Develop KPIs and dashboards for operational and financial performance
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal accounting policies
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Maintain strong internal controls aligned with best practices
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with accuracy and timeliness
  • Oversee preparation of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Support executive leadership with board reporting, financial presentations, and investor or lender reporting
  • Drive meaningful variance analysis and financial insights
  • Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and fixed assets
  • Strengthen internal controls, policies, and audit readiness
  • Identify and implement process improvements for scalability and efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, statutory, and tax requirements
  • Lead cost accounting including standard costing, job costing, and variance analysis
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to monitor labor, materials, and overhead
  • Ensure accurate inventory valuation and reporting
  • Support pricing, margin analysis, and operational performance improvements
  • Lead external audits and coordinate audit preparation
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure policy adherence
  • Maintain compliance within a regulated medical device manufacturing environment
  • Champion AI and automation initiatives within finance
  • Streamline workflows and reduce manual processes
  • Support digital transformation and scalable financial infrastructure
  • Lead and develop the accounting team
  • Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Partner cross functionally with Operations, Quality, HR, and Supply Chain
