Job Summary: The cost accountant position is accountable for the ongoing analysis of product costing, process constraints , margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities. The cost accountant must also construct and monitor cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of accounting/finance experience / working in manufacturing / operations role
  • BA/BS degree, as well as excellent analysis skills, and the ability to collaborate with a multi-department team.
  • Power user of Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be able to work across organization boundaries at all levels of the company to achieve the plant and corporate objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and follow through to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP .
  • Cost accounting experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple jobs and adapt to a rapidly changing work environment with fluctuating priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Highly self-motivated with ability to bring a high-level of energy to work.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills .
  • Ability to analyze/interpret data and take appropriate action.

Nice To Haves

  • Also helpful to have experience manipulating large databases.
  • IFS or SAP Costing experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Inventory Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts
  • Investigate cycle counting variances and resolve issues
  • Update standard costs in the bill of materials
  • Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies
  • Validate the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close
  • Accumulate and apply labor and overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles
  • Work with the materials review board to locate and dispose of obsolete inventory
  • Analysis Conduct ongoing process constraint analyses and variance analysis for manufactured parts
  • Report on breakeven points by products, work centers, and factories
  • Report on margins by product and division
  • Report on variances and their causes, which includes spending variances related to purchased parts, labor rates, overhead spending
  • Analyze capital budgeting requests
  • Perform cost accumulation tasks
  • Perform Miscellaneous financial analysis as it relates to operational activities at the assembly locations
