About The Position

As a Cost Accountant at Fisk Electric, reporting to The Controller, you will have the opportunity to: Provide technical direction to ensure effective application of job cost methods, proper auditing of job costs, and assist in project status reporting Prepare special reports (Work-in-Progress, Accruals, Fee Analysis, Actual Committed Reports) for use in comparisons and studies for project analysis, and reviews with Project Manager to fine tune projections and accurately establish the project’s financial status Review subcontractor Change Order tracking and ensures reconciliation with signed Owner Change Orders Assist operations in analysis of job site audits to assess reasonable costs to date and estimated costs to complete Periodically compare actual costs with initial estimates (over/under budget) and provides feedback to Estimating/Operations Facilitate the Project Status/Job Cost meetings and ensures follow through on action items generated Monitor all job cost transfers and implements measures to preclude inappropriate transfers. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations to include health, safety, and welfare as appropriate

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or related area preferred. A combination of education and work experience may also be considered in lieu of degree
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Two years’ experience directly applicable to Construction Accounting with a contracting company is preferred
  • Two years’ Cost Accounting experience is preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of general office equipment, Microsoft Word, and JD Edwards
  • Intermediate level or higher with MS Excel look up and pivot tables is required
  • Excellent Verbal and Written communication skills
