About The Position

We are seeking a diligent Cost Accountant to join our team in Haverhill, Massachusetts. This role is essential for analyzing and costing manufacturing work orders, planning and collecting data to determine business costs, and assisting with audits, thereby maintaining financial efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting or a related role.
  • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems and ADP - Financial Services is required.
  • Experience with Crystal Reports and Epicor software is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning is essential.
  • Must have a solid understanding of Accounting Functions and Accounts Payable (AP).
  • Auditing skills are a prerequisite for this role.
  • Knowledge of Budget Processes and Cash Activity management is necessary.
  • Experience with Great Plains (GPAC) software is advantageous.
  • Possess strong skills in Cost Accounting.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to make well-judged decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Crystal Reports and Epicor software is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and cost manufacturing work orders following the company's costing system
  • Plan, study, and collect data to determine costs of business activities such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor
  • Prepare monthly cost of sales figures by analyzing material, labor, and research and development expenses
  • Assist the accounting manager in preparing monthly journal entries for cost of sales and scrap
  • Maintain a First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory system and adhere to established valuation methods
  • Assist with both internal and external audits
  • Analyze variances and process routine and ad hoc requests
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned.
