About The Position

The Cost Accountant II performs moderately complex cost accounting tasks, including detailed profitability analysis, journal entry preparation, and audit support. This role works independently to analyze project performance, identify trends, and ensure compliance with GAAP. The Cost Accountant II also assists with process improvements and provides advanced reporting to management.

Requirements

  • Willingness to develop understanding of company policies and procedures
  • Ability to quickly understand, retain, and recall information, and research as needed
  • Must be skilled in using office equipment and have knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Must exhibit exceptional customer service skills, requiring professional tact, and discretion when dealing with personnel inside and outside the organization
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of all confidentiality requirements regarding employee records
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of progressive cost accounting experience, including project analysis and reporting
  • Proficiency with Workday and intermediate Excel skills required

  • CPA or CMA certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review journal entries for multiple projects, including complex revenue recognition and accruals.
  • Conduct detailed profitability analysis and variance reporting for multiple cost centers.
  • Issue advanced weekly and monthly project reports with trend analysis and recommendations.
  • Utilize Workday for cost tracking, reporting, and reconciliation of complex accounts.
  • Assist with internal audits and compliance reviews related to project accounting.
  • Support monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Communicate with operations and finance teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Collaborate on process improvement initiatives to enhance cost accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assist in training new team members and share best practices.
  • Support Wright’s culture of safety and employee ownership.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Handle multiple assignments and special projects as assigned.
