About the position
As a Cost Accountant at M&M Manufacturing, you will be instrumental in managing and controlling manufacturing costs across two plants in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This role serves as a vital link between operations and finance, focusing on cost analysis, variance reporting, and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency. You will work closely with plant leadership to provide financial insights that drive performance and support the company's commitment to innovation and excellence in manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Set and maintain standard costs for manufacturing processes.
- Analyze labor, material, and inventory impacts on costs.
- Review Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings for accuracy.
- Support monthly close processes with journal entries and production order closing.
- Evaluate Work in Progress (WIP) and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Monitor inventory transactions and support physical inventory planning.
- Conduct variance analysis and recommend corrective measures for discrepancies.
- Prepare reports on plant trends for monthly forecasting and budget planning.
- Collaborate with plant personnel to ensure BOMs and routings are accurate.
- Lead process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency in cost-tracking.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least two years of Cost Accounting experience, ideally in a Build/Engineer-to-Order manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office; experience with major ERP systems (QAD preferred).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills to explain financial data to non-financial personnel.
- Self-motivated, organized, and capable of prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
