Concorde Education is seeking an engaging, student-centered Cosmetology Instructor to facilitate a short-format after-school enrichment course introducing students to cosmetology pathways, including nail technology, hairdressing, and makeup artistry. This course is designed as a school-appropriate exploration of foundational techniques, professionalism, and industry standards, emphasizing hygiene, safety, and respectful client communication. This is an enrichment course and is not a licensure program. Instruction should remain non-invasive and aligned with site policies, with an emphasis on safe, simulated practice and age-appropriate tools and products. The instructor will deliver instruction across a typical 10-week cycle, with pacing adapted to student needs and site logistics. Students will explore foundational cosmetology knowledge and hands-on skills across three core areas: nail care basics, introductory hairstyling techniques, and makeup fundamentals. Students will learn about sanitation protocols, tool safety, professional expectations, and career pathways while building creative confidence through guided practice and design challenges. Major Topics Can Include Professionalism and salon expectations (ethics, boundaries, respectful conduct) Hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards (tool disinfection routines, workspace cleanliness) Client communication basics (consultation questions, active listening, service explanations) Nail technology fundamentals (school-appropriate) Nail anatomy and terminology Nail shaping, filing technique, cuticle care concepts Introductory nail art and design planning (color, pattern, theme) Hairdressing fundamentals (school-appropriate) Hair structure and healthy hair habits Hair types and textures; inclusive hair care considerations Sectioning, brush control, blow-drying basics (as permitted) Braiding, ponytails, and basic updos Makeup fundamentals (school-appropriate) Skin care basics and hygiene (brush/sponge sanitation, avoiding cross-contamination) Color theory and shade selection (undertones, contrast, balance) Introductory application techniques (natural looks, stage/photo concepts as appropriate) Product knowledge and safe use (expiration awareness, patch-test concepts, site rules) Industry overview and pathways Training and licensing overview (high-level, informational) Roles and careers in cosmetology and related fields (salon, freelance, retail, education) Portfolio development and showcasing work appropriately
