About The Position
The Cosmetology/Barber Inspector plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of the cosmetology and barbering industries in Ohio. This position is responsible for conducting inspections of licensed businesses and individuals to ensure adherence to state regulations regarding infection control, safety, and licensing. The inspector will begin and end their workday at their residence, utilizing a state-issued vehicle to travel within their assigned area for inspections. The role requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to make informed decisions based on inspection findings. In this position, the inspector will complete inspections of various establishments and individuals licensed by the Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board. After conducting inspections, the inspector is responsible for composing and preparing detailed reports of their findings, which will be emailed to the respective licensees. The inspector will also be required to testify in adjudication hearings when requested, providing expert testimony based on their inspections. Maintaining the assigned state-owned vehicle is also a key responsibility, which includes reporting any needed maintenance and submitting gas purchases. Effective communication with Board licensees and the general public is essential in this role, as the inspector will often provide guidance and information regarding compliance with state laws and regulations. The selected candidate must reside in Franklin County, ensuring they are readily available for inspections within the designated area.
