About The Position

The Business Office Specialist at the Montezuma-Cortez District Office is responsible for maintaining accurate and systematic financial records for the school district while providing customer service to the school district and community. The position is integral in ensuring that financial transactions are processed efficiently and that financial records are kept up to date.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (preferred).
  • Three years of financial experience (preferred).
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Word Processing skills.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Ability to speak effectively before vendors, administrators, and staff.
  • Familiarity with federal and state financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of general systems and the ability to pick up software quickly.
  • Knowledge of School ERP Pro/iVisions software desired.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and promotes good working relations among various community members, staff, clientele, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensures timely and accurate data entry into the district's accounting system.
  • Prepares, processes and responds to requests for financial records.
  • Screens and processes financial transactions including accounts payable and payroll.
  • Prepares technical and financial reports; maintains various databases, records, files.
  • Reconciles accounts, payments and receipts.
  • Assists in the generation of financial reports.
  • Assists with annual reporting and audit.
  • Assists in budget preparation.
  • Duties are subject to change based on the needs and talent.
