About The Position

We are looking for a friendly, creative individual to join our dynamic corrugated design team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 to 5 years design experience, preferably for a corrugated box and display manufacturer and have some knowledge of machinery requirements and how to design for success in production. Must be able to quickly generate multiple design solutions as needed. We are a corrugated manufacturer, focusing on retail packaging and Point of Purchase displays for major retailers. DeLine is a privately owned company with an impressive array of cutting-edge manufacturing equipment. We pride ourselves on our creative designs and our printing capabilities. It is important for the designer we hire to be comfortable in the graphic space as well as understanding strength and structure. This position is largely one of assistance to the other designers, but the intention is to grow the individual into a full design role. You will work directly with our graphic designers and with customers and sales to generate retail packaging, POP’s and / or protective packaging as needed. Daily tasks include providing accurate structural drawings, maintaining project and CAD files, operating the sample cutting table, and acting as a resource to Sales and customers looking for different options. To be successful, this person must work well as a team and have strong problem-solving abilities. Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator is critically necessary; experience CAD design is a plus but not a requirement. We are prepared to train you on the specific programs we use.

Requirements

  • The required education, experience and skills for this position are a minimum of four (4) years of work experience and/or education beyond high school

  • Experience/knowledge of graphic programs (Illustrator, etc.) required.

  • Language – Ability to read and interpret documents such as company policies, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals in English language.
  • Computer - Familiar with basic functions of database and operating systems. Can locate, open and save files.
  • Interpersonal Skill – Must possess a high degree of interpersonal skills; Demonstrated ability to work effectively within the organization and collaborate with internal and external clients to understand business processes and determine requirements; Demonstrated diplomacy and tact are a must with a focus toward both internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Adaptability – Ability to think critically; To be flexible and adaptable while responding to the changing business environment and demands as well as anticipates and influence changes; Ability to recognize balance between competing needs and resources; Must work well independently and across teams.
  • Sense of Urgency – Must be able to maintain production schedules and provide support when needed.

Nice To Haves

  • The preferred qualifications for this position are all of the above; plus a bachelor's degree with a packaging engineering emphasis, three (3) or more years experience in packaging manufacture, or three (3) or more years of previous design and CAD experience.
  • Experience/knowledge of different packaging materials strongly preferred.
  • Experience/knowledge of Artios or comparable programs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist structural and graphic designers in the design process; includes brainstorming, sketching, and creating prototypes as well as running the sample table and assembling samples as needed. Must be comfortable lifting and carrying large sheets of corrugate.
  • Collaborate with production and sales and design to create eye catching designs that run well in our plant.
  • Assist with small scale production, as needed.
  • Understand and optimize material choices based on customer requirements and material availability.
  • Time management: Manage multiple projects at one time while meeting deadlines for each.
  • Create designs using CAD (Atrios) and / or Adobe Illustrator.
  • Convert sketches and ideas into 2D/3D display models with cutting tables and knife tools.
  • Follow best practices for structural creation to make sure customer’s needs are addressed.
  • Liaison between customer and production to ensure project is being executed to customer’s expectations.
