About The Position

Join the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) as a Senior Corrosion Testing Lab Tech in our prestigious Materials & Material Degradation division, located in Warner Robins, GA. Be part of a world-renowned research community that's advancing critical technologies for aerospace, defense, and industrial applications. This position is in Warner Robins GA. Selected candidates will support research, development, and integration of new corrosion prevention materials and processes on USAF aerospace systems and ground support equipment. Duties include preparing metal and composite specimens, including machining, marking, surface preparation, pretreatment, coating application, and data tracking. Coating application may include various liquid, powder, and electrodeposition methods. The ability to properly prepare and spray liquid coatings in accordance with USAF technical data is essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and six years directly relevant experience in US Air Force coating of corrosion control materials and corrosion control equipment.
  • Ability to use USAF corrosion control equipment such as paint booth and blasting cabinets.
  • Familiarity with applicable aerospace structural materials, corrosion and coatings military and commercial standards.
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with USAF technical orders 1-1-8, 1-1-691, 35-1-3.
  • Working knowledge of USAF organizational, intermediate, and depot corrosion and coating operations.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Ability to pass a National Agency Check within 1 year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in a related field or 12 or more years aircraft maintenance experience.
  • USAF aircraft structural maintenance experience.
  • Twelve years directly relevant experience in US Air Force of corrosion control materials and corrosion control equipment.
  • Experience processing corrosion and coatings specimens in accordance with test plans.
  • Experience mixing and spraying common military aircraft coating systems.
  • Extensive familiarity with applicable aerospace structural materials, corrosion and coatings test specifications, and military/commercial standards. Extensive familiarity with USAF technical orders 1-1-8, 1-1-691, 35-1-3. Have aircraft corrosion control experience on USAF aircraft and support equipment.
  • Experience with low observable coatings.
  • Extensive knowledge of USAF organizational, intermediate, and depot corrosion and coating operations.
  • Support program experience preferred (safety, haz-mat, haz-waste, RPP, etc.).
