About The Position

The Corrosion Supervisor at Kinder Morgan is responsible for overseeing a team of seven Corrosion Technicians who manage corrosion control programs for Division 8 Pipelines across Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. This role involves planning and executing projects, ensuring compliance with safety and budgetary guidelines, and fostering a culture of safety and efficiency within the team. The supervisor will also engage in staff development, performance evaluations, and coordination of training programs, while maintaining relationships with various stakeholders and regulatory bodies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Science, or related field from an accredited school or relevant professional experience.
  • Knowledge of pipeline operations, project management, risk management concepts, and engineering principles.
  • Experience with design, construction, and troubleshooting of corrosion monitoring and cathodic protection systems.
  • Familiarity with DOT Part 192 regulations and standard practices in cathodic protection.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, Outlook, and MAXIMO.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills with prior supervisory experience.
  • AMPP 'Cathodic Protection Technician (CP2)' certification.
  • Proficiency with Pipeline Compliance System (PCS) software.
  • Basic knowledge of cathodic protection and pipeline operations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise division corrosion control program to achieve goals within budgeted funds and available personnel.
  • Plan projects and designate accountability for assignments, reviewing progress and directing changes as needed.
  • Participate in the selection and progression of staff, including salary considerations and disciplinary matters.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide training to maximize individual capabilities.
  • Orient new employees regarding procedures, policies, and equipment operation.
  • Coordinate annual refresher, safety, and emergency response training.
  • Develop and administer capital and maintenance budgets based on staffing and resource requirements.
  • Monitor and document expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budgets.
  • Design corrosion monitoring and cathodic protection systems through complex activities.
  • Confer with departments responsible for contracts, environmental compliance, and right-of-way procurement.
  • Prepare or assign preparation of contract drawings, specifications, and bid invitations for outside contractors.
  • Plan, coordinate, and direct jobs, determining priority of corrosion control projects.
  • Consult Technical Manager on major projects, budget proposals, and priorities.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with AMPP organizations.
  • Represent the company at regional inter-company corrosion coordinating committees.
  • Delegate and review notifications to various agencies regarding corrosion protection systems.
  • Generate compliance reports from various computer databases.
  • Assist technicians with analysis of field test data and corrective actions.
  • Investigate corrosion problems in the field and coordinate activities with other companies or vendors as necessary.
  • Resolve cathodic protection and interference problems, implementing corrective actions through personnel or contractors.
  • Coordinate and direct Corrosion Technicians and contracted services.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety and the safety of company assets and employees.
