About The Position

The Corrosion Field Engineer performs onsite investigations in fire sprinkler systems using specialized tools, analyzes findings, and provides actionable insights to clients. This role combines fieldwork, forensic analysis, technical report writing, and client dialogue, offering growth as a subject matter expert. With significant travel and varied environments, this entry-level role is ideal for those with curiosity and technical precision.

Requirements

  • Ability to balance complexities of on-site project work with data collection goals.
  • Ability to work effectively with external tradespeople and other facilities management and construction roles.
  • Inquisitive personality with ability to go above and beyond specific on-site data collection requirements while conducting site work.
  • Demonstrated strong wiring skills.
  • Strong ability to analyze and synthesize data for the assembly into technical reports.
  • Seld-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Competent in the use of handheld metrology equipment.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline – required
  • Entry-level position – no experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to read and understand building schematics and as-built construction drawings.
  • Ability to present technical data to a wide range of audiences.
  • Working knowledge of basic chemistry.
  • Internship or co-op in an engineering or related field – preferred
  • Willingness to work towards a Professional Engineer license – preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform corrosion investigation work at client sites, utilizing the following methods:
  • Internal video analysis of sprinkler systems piping using a borescope
  • Sketching sprinkler system piping and characteristics using digital tools
  • Capturing pictures of unique observable evidence using a camera
  • Collecting other site survey data as applicable for the given investigation
  • Process collected data for analysis as part of a corrosion study and remediation plan, utilizing the following methods:
  • Forensic review of video evidence
  • Measurement and analysis of corrosion pitting morphology in sprinkler pipe sections
  • Interpret site specific design and construction characteristics
  • Write technical reports describing corrosion investigation findings and remediation recommendations.
  • Research for and write technical white papers on corrosion related subjects.
  • Communicate complex technical material and report findings to clients in video calls, meetings, and formal presentations.
  • Facilitate the sales team in the execution of the sales process as a subject matter expert.
  • Interface directly with prospective clients and clients during the sales process and during the execution of services.
  • Learn and maintain subject matter expertise in fire sprinkler system construction and corrosion in sprinkler systems.
  • Perform due diligence in preparation for future investigation projects.
