FHR in Corpus Christi, TX is looking for a Corrosion and Materials Engineer to proactively manage damage mechanisms on process piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and other refinery equipment.
Responsibilities
Follow safety rules and regulations and promote a positive safety culture
Provide corrosion and materials engineering support for the facility, including material selection for projects and influence corrosion control designs for new construction and asset changes
Identify damage mechanisms and assist with inspection recommendations to ensure the damage is effectively identified
Participate in equipment maintenance scoping and damage mechanism service life evaluation
Support or conduct API 579 fitness for service assessments
Contribute to the development and updating of corrosion control documents risk based inspection (RBI), injection and mix point, HTHA, etc.
Maintain corrosion-related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reporting
Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and recommend corrosion control solutions
Assist in maintaining corrosion program standards, procedures, technical guidelines, and forms
Understand and develop relationships with internal stakeholders
Apply economic and risk-based thinking in assessing asset integrity/reliability and threat mitigation effectiveness
Provide infield technical support during maintenance events, including confined space entry
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant technical field (preferably Chemical, Corrosion, Metallurgical, or Materials Science/Engineering)
Working experience with corrosion control and damage mechanisms in a refining or petrochemical environments
Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience
Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job
Nice-to-haves
Knowledge of industry standards, RAGAGEP, relating to damage mechanisms and corrosion control
Experience with failure analysis and incident investigation techniques
Experience with risk based inspection (RBI)
Experience with corrosion control documents
Basic knowledge of fixed equipment design and material selection process
