About The Position

Manages projects from design through completion, including support of plans of projects with engineering department. Works under the supervision and direction of a Corrosion Supervisor. Helps designs new or relocation pipe facilities such as gas distribution facilities for subdivisions, system improvements, and public improvement projects. Performs all aspects of cathodic protection work, including analysis, design and maintenance of cathodic protection systems. Performs manual and skilled duties in the construction, operation, maintenance, and corrosion control program for natural gas pipelines in accordance with DOT 192 Regulations.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school education or the equivalent knowledge of English, basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and calculation of fractions and/or percentages), grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Requires a minimum of two (2) years of experience in natural gas utility design or a minimum of four (4) years of related construction project design.

Nice To Haves

  • Able to obtain NACE Level 1 certification, desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Designs intermediate gas distribution facilities and associated support systems including cathodic protection.
  • Provides design support to local gas operations.
  • Coordinates efforts with customers, and all vendors that provide corrosion with service including all CNP districts gas and or electric.
  • Communicates with district operations staff when necessary to determine where corrections are needed or assisting them with a problem.
  • Mentors and trains new employees.
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the permanent natural gas distribution system records including its evolution, development, archiving, and maintenance.
  • Analyzes field data gathering activities, including test point checks, rectifier readings, bond readings, and analyzing pipe to soil results.
  • Designs and installs gas pipeline protection systems, including installation of conventional ground beds and sacrificial anodes, when required.
  • Troubleshoots the Cathodic Protection system to determine repair needs.
  • Maintains all records related to cathodic protection systems.
  • Ensures the design, maintenance, and construction requirements meet Regulatory requirements established by Municipal, Parish, State, and Federal authorities.
  • Ensures compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Company standards pertaining to corrosion control, investigations, operations and maintenance in general.
  • Complies with all DOT and OSHA federal regulations, including keeping abreast of changes and updates that may occur.
  • Other duties as determined by Manager of Technical Field Operations or TFO Operations Supervisor.
