About The Position

The corrosion engineer's primary objective will be to assume responsibility for RBMI corrosion research, maintain the corrosion control manual, and conduct inspection and maintenance audits. This role will also involve analyzing and improving process corrosion issues to prevent corrosion-related leaks and accidents. Additionally, the Corrosion Engineer will provide expert assistance and recommendations on corrosion and materials evaluations, including participation in P&ID reviews, abnormal equipment analysis, incident investigations, and other related tasks.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one year of corrosion and risk-based inspection experience within the petrochemical industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge in pipeline assessment, Fitness for Service Evaluation, Risk Management, and Code Compliance, API 510, 570, 571, and 653 in addition to API 580 and 581 Risk-Based Inspections preferred.
  • Experience in pipeline operations, design, and maintenance preferred.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Material Science and Engineering (Corrosion Science and Engineering) is required; other related engineering disciplines considered.
  • General knowledge of material standards (e.g., API, NACE, ASTM, ASME, ANSI, and ISO).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • A willingness and drive to continue to learn and to improve yourself.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct the Corrosion Under Insulation inspection and corrosion root cause analysis and improvement.
  • Document activities and inspections and review the accuracy of data and information contained in reports prepared by others.
  • Defend the company's technical and procedural positions related to corrosion control activities.
  • Responsible for development, review and maintenance of CEMP, CUI, and CUF programs.
  • Review and audit of PSM operations and corrosion issues such as Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), accident investigation, and equipment abnormal report.
  • Develop and maintain a corrosion control manual (CCD).
  • Work with the Site GMO/MI/Maintenance team to develop the Inspection Test Plan (ITP) and Repair Plan.
  • Perform RBMI corrosion research work, including internal/external corrosion rate, corrosion mechanism, environmental cracks, and other damage mechanism (ODM) evaluation and setting.
  • Perform damage mechanism assessment for inspection, maintenance, and audit operations.
  • Perform cause/root cause analysis of damage mechanism research and improvement suggestions.
  • Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total Housekeeping Maintenance Program.
