About The Position
The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Coal Township is seeking a motivated Corrections Utility Plant Operator. As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator, you will monitor and operate equipment in the utility plant at SCI Coal Township. You will oversee inmate work crews performing tasks, perform scheduled and non-routine maintenance, and make repairs to ensure proper functionality and continuous operations. You will also test water chemistry and water softening systems, operate auxiliary equipment, and read gauges, meters, and sensing devices. The role requires using sound technical knowledge to ensure continued operation of plant equipment while directing inmates in the standard principles of boiler plant maintenance, operation, and repair. In addition, you will update test logs, clean equipment, and maintain tools and caustic supplies in accordance with applicable regulations and policies.
