About The Position

Under general supervision, the Corrections Program Specialist, Reentry Coordinator, performs work at the full performance level in the implementation and evaluation of technical assistance for programs and services at the Eastern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility. This position is a lead worker and can be a supervisory position depending on the area of assignment. This Corrections Program Specialist will coordinate with Correctional Case Managers to ensure offenders are taking appropriate steps for reentry into society once released/placed on parole, complete and accurate scheduling of all parole hearings and compliance with reentry procedures. This position will be primarily responsible for tracking offenders waiting for an approved plan, assisting with out-of-state home plans and evaluating, completing and processing accelerated parole applications. Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, corrections, social work, or a related behavioral or social science field.
  • Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in corrections, probation/parole, law enforcement, social work, recreation, religion, or a related behavioral or social science field.
  • Additional full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience may substitute for the required training at the rate of one year of experience for every thirty semester hours of training.
  • Graduate coursework may substitute for the required experience at the rate of fifteen semester hours of training for every one year of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and evaluate technical assistance for programs and services at the Eastern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility.
  • Coordinate with Correctional Case Managers for offender reentry into society.
  • Schedule all parole hearings and ensure compliance with reentry procedures.
  • Track offenders waiting for an approved reentry plan.
  • Assist with out-of-state home plans.
  • Evaluate, complete, and process accelerated parole applications.

Benefits

  • $5,000 added to the minimum starting rate of pay for all classifications within a Critical Vacancy Pay Supplemental Facility.
  • Annual base building pay differential of $250 after completing one year of service.
