A Grant Funded, Non-Merit vacancy exists in the Department of Corrections. Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan.   • Conduct outreach to offenders in the Baltimore County Detention Center with a substance use disorder.
  • Meet with peers to provide peer mentoring, linkages to resources, and facilitation of contacts with the recovery community.
  • Assist peers with applications for services.
  • Serve as a role model for wellness and life in recovery.
  • Instill hope and promote recovery.
  • Distribute literature, brochures, and other related materials.
  • Collect outreach statistics.
  • May transport peers.
  • May be assigned to community locations in collaboration with Bureau partners.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Possession of a high school diploma or appropriate equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years of continuous recovery from a substance use disorder.
  • Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist certified through the Maryland Addiction and Behavioral Health Professionals Certification Board (MABPCB) or the ability to acquire Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist within a year of hire.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a non-commercial, class C Maryland driver license.
  • Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Certification
