About The Position

The Corrections Lieutenant at the State Farm Correctional Center plays a crucial role in contributing to the public safety mission by ensuring the safety and security of the public, staff, and inmates. This is achieved through effective custody and control, compliance with policies and procedures, and the use of evidence-based practices. The officer will provide security over adult inmates both at the institution and during transport, supervising their daily activities while observing and recording their behavior to ensure their safe and secure confinement.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Current Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Certification.
• Considerable experience in corrections or law enforcement.
• Experience supervising corrections staff.
• Working experience in planning, scheduling, and organizing work.
• Experience in reviewing and evaluating records and reports.
• Demonstrated knowledge of security practices and procedures.
• Ability to follow and give oral and written instructions.
• Working knowledge in the use of firearms and radio equipment.

Nice To Haves

• LEAD Graduate or equivalent applicable experience.
• Working experience with evidence-based practices.
• Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook.
