The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution at Dallas is seeking a highly motivated electrician who enjoys teaching to join our team as a Corrections Electrical Trade Instructor. As a Corrections Electrical Trade Instructor, you will be responsible for instructing inmates in the practices, methods, and procedures of the electrical trade at a journeyman level by demonstration, explanation, and close supervision during training and work assignments. You will instruct inmates through textbook and hands-on training in the methods and procedures of repair and new construction of both low and high voltage circuitry. This includes lighting, power outlets, conduit, underground circuits, switch boxes, breaker panels, switchgear, transformers, motors, electrical appliances, and generators. You will be responsible for planning and assigning work to inmates receiving electrical trade instruction and to assist inmates at all levels of training through communication and hands-on demonstration, reviewing and inspecting work in progress and upon completion for adherence to standards of the electrical trade.
