As a Corrections Counselor 2, you will be responsible for providing a variety of complex counseling and casework services to inmates at the State Correctional Institutional at Coal Township. This position involves working with inmates who exhibit disruptive, violent, or insubordinate behaviors, and requires a high level of independence in determining the appropriate course of action. Your work will include utilizing group or individual counseling methods and techniques to address difficulties associated with institutionalized living, as well as helping inmates to solve social, economic, and emotional problems that may be affecting their attitude and behavior. Your role as a Corrections Counselor is crucial in enabling inmates to take responsibility for their actions and make positive changes in their lives.

Requirements

  • One year as a Corrections Counselor 1 or equivalent experience.
  • One year of professional counseling or casework experience in a correctional facility.
  • Bachelor's degree in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field.
  • 18 college credits in relevant fields if not holding a degree.
  • Obtain CLEAN and JNET certification within two months of employment.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
  • Meet PA residency requirement.
  • Pass a background investigation and meet CJIS compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide complex counseling and casework services to inmates.
