Requirements

• Three years and six months as a corrections officer and 18 college credits in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field; or
• A bachelor's degree in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 18 college credits in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field.
• Must obtain Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) and Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) certification within two months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interviews with inmates to assist with their adjustment to institutional life.
• Provide consultation and guidance on resolving personal and family issues.
• Facilitate conflict resolution and address concerns within the institution and community.
• Develop and maintain accurate records and reports for managing an inmate caseload.
• Assess aptitude and interest test results and compile socio-demographic histories.
• Create detailed case records and coordinate treatment plans with multidisciplinary teams.
