About The Position

The primary goal of this position is public safety. Trains in classroom and at on-the-job training sites. Observes security officers engaged in demonstration of security work. Assists security officers of higher level in work as journeyman security officers such as cellblock, dormitory, trips, gate officer, chase team, or dog trainer. Oversees inmates for training purposes. Responds to emergencies and renders assistance as required. The incumbent of this position will be responsible for assuming the duties of their assigned post. Must report roll calls at the required time and place. Receive and carry out roll call instructions and/or training assuring that assignments are carried out in accordance with post orders and institutional policy. Must be ready to respond to any emergency situations he/she may encounter and assist with bringing the emergency situation under control. Must be able to assess situations and notify their supervisor of any unusual incidents/occurrences. Must be able to maintain custody and control of offender work details utilizing rosters and proper logging of activities. The incumbent is responsible for conducting periodic security checks on inmate dormitory areas, gates, fences, and doors.

Requirements

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
• One year of experience in any field.
