About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Reporting to the Administrative Officer III, this position is primarily responsible for planning, delivering, implementing, and coordinating the training activities for all employees assigned to a multi-custody female correctional facility. Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Reviewing all Requests for Training and Applications for Education Assistance, reviewing, scheduling, coordination, and conducting mandatory annual in-service training for certified and non-certified staff as required by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standard Commission. 2. Assisting with the scheduling of Correctional Officer Basic Training for all new employees who are required by their job classification to attend this training. 3. Conducting the Annual Recertification Training for assigned Certified, General and Specialized instructors. 4. Reviewing, scheduling, coordinating, and conducting New Hire Orientation. 5. Performing other related duties as needed. (Salary Range: $41,206 - $72,113) This posting will close at 11:59 pm, the night before the end date listed above. About Anson Correctional Institution: Anson Correctional Institution houses female offenders in medium and close custody housing units. Anson CI offers a wide variety of educational, vocational, and training programs. Correction Enterprises operates the offender packaging operation at Anson, a partnership with Union Supply Direct through the Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE). Family and friends can order a package of goods from a pre-approved shopping list to send to an offender. Orders are packaged by offenders and shipped quarterly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree AND one year of experience in a criminal justice or training-related field; or High School or General Educational Development (GED) certificate AND five years of experience in a criminal justice or training-related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • May require General Instructor Certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

  • Documented experience in Microsoft Word and Excel.
